Links for Fun

See what your yearbook picture might have looked like in another era. Yearbook yourself!

How well do you know your world geography? Try this fun game. I got as close as 27 km on one of my clicks - not too shabby!

What's shakin'? A map of the latest earthquakes.

When I need a dose of cute dog, I like to watch Mel the Shih Tzu imitating the sirens.

Favorite Things

Number 7: The Harmony One remote control. I like mine so much, I named it Mortee, an anagram of remote. This one doesn't just claim to be a universal remote, it really actually will control all your electronics. Even if you have a really old tuner (like I do) you hook it up to your computer and it will find the info it needs to control it, as long as the electronics had a remote to begin with. OK, we can't turn on the old black XBox with it because of that, but the Harmony One will set up the TV input so all we have to do is turn on the XBox. Maybe it is time to upgrade to the 360? I like that I can make up my own commands, like "watch a dvd with surround sound" and I don't have to change settings on anything. I just push the one button on the screen. If I change my mind and want to listen to the radio...push one button and it does all the work. I do have to lift a finger, but only one finger.

Pointy Stuff

I am getting ready for the Open Studio in May and working on knit pieces. Here is an asymmetrical wrap sweater with a long, pointy hood over an asymmetrical skirt. The fabric is not grey, as it looks in this phone camera photo. It is black with a lime green stripe. I've got other pieces in the works, too.

May 14 and 15
See the Artists' Studios at the Continental Gin Building in historic Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas.

Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things. I'll add one each couple of days.

8. The garlic peeler tube. I like it so much, about ten years ago I gave one to a friend as a gift. She adds garlic to just about every dish she makes, so I thought this would be a great gadget for her. When she opened it she laughed and asked, "really?" She thought it was ridiculous. Throughout the evening she would burst into laughter and hold up the garlic tube. Since then, at least twice a year she tells me how much she likes it, that she uses it almost every day and can't believe she made fun of me for giving it to her.

9. Klean Kanteen. Nice size selection. Nice color selection. Nice lid selection. Nice smooth lip. Nice and handy. I have three.

10. Hair Made dryer stand. Why? I need a third hand when drying my hair.

Recycled Jacket

Today I had fun making the mullet version of a jacket! (Business in the front, party in the back) Ha!
I had a brand new beautiful jacket that had a large hole in the back. The embroidery and details were so beautiful, it couldn't be tossed out.
Now the back has part of a military jacket with a pocket. It's a camo kangaroo!

Thailand Travels

We had such a great time on vacation in Thailand. The food, beaches, snorkeling and massages were fantastic and the shopping was out of this world. I'm headed to the studio with inspiration and new ideas!
